Dean Vendetta XM or Squier Bullet Strat w/ Tremolo?

Im looking for a really good beginner guitar (for as cheap as possible), I want to play metal but I also want a really solid guitar. I've narrowed it down to these 2 but if you have any other suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
